Smile, it raises your face value

Leave the frown behind,
take a smile with you.

It's free and downright contagious.

It's also far better to catch than the flu.

Tuesday happies.

Flowersniffy

You needn't be in such a hurry,

with the dog-eat-dog, push and shovey world out there.

Nip a quickymoment in time and space to quiet the mind,

and listen gingerly to the silent sounds of change.

It's time to wake up and smell the blooming blossoms, sweetheart.

The sachet of sugared scents should give you just enough reason to smile.

A thousand splendid suns to you

That is my wish for you today...

a pale, rising sun
a long, warmish day

a gentle, breezy afternoon
a lazy dusk of daylight slipping past

a sun-kissed, horizon greeting to a silvery, waxing moon

and the strength to know that the sun will rise again tomorrow

Have a shiny, blazing weekend you lovely sun-chasers.

An ode to joy

The Vallès Symphony Orchestra flash mob playing Beethoven's finest.

Goosebumpy...

It makes my soul so immensely happy.

I can feel the music throughout every cell in my entire being.

This feeling is the very reason we are music artists.

...and look, not a gun in sight.

Art

It has the power to calm any savage beast.

Find it

Life beats down and crushes the soul, and art reminds you that you have one.

What if money didn't matter? - Alan Watts

I've been watching this here clip that's been circulating about the w3 parts of the world.

Perhaps you've stumbled into it while leafing through the pages of hyperspace.

It has struck a chord deep down to the core of my very soul.

"All wretch, and no vomit."

It's the very reason why I am no longer fingerprinting the dead, and have abandoned working for the man.

I have shared this with my young teen son, and now I share this with you.

I have chosen to devote my life to happiness.
I invite you to do the same.

Friday feel-good happies

 It's Friday again!
An ultramegacongrats to you!

Which means the time has come to...

be in the now
laugh yourself silly
seize the moment

endorphin it up
be open to life's possibilities
remember that being you is enough

enjoy simplicity
take nothing for granted
touch nothing with half a heart

understand before reacting
let others help you
find the faces in the flowers

put yourself first
walk hand in hand with the truth
believe that humans can be oh, so beautiful.

Remember that being you is enough,
and trust that there is indeed,
a bit of good still left in the world.

Happy Friday

A little more Jessica please

Give yourself a onceover in the looking glass,
and love yourself silly today.

like your hair
like your pajamas
 your elephants
your house
your job
your friends
 your Allisons
your beautiful life

Then give yourself a monsterhug, be grateful for all that you have, and learn to live with more passion.

We could all take a lesson from the book of Jessica.

You can do ANYTHING good.

Disclaimer:
Jessica's optimistic conditon is highly contagious

Je me suis fait tout petit

I made myself so small, for a doll...

A song originally written by Georges Brassens with lyrics that leave much room for interpretation.

As a pianist, the progression to becoming an accordion enthusiast came quite naturally.

With a similar keyboard and its expanding/contracting folding bellows of rich danceable melodies, it wasn't hard to discover that this is a truly beautiful and underrated instrument.

One can marvel in its lengthy history of famed Vaudevillian performances of social graces, and its character while taking center stage, articulating secret messages as the original one man band.

But what of the song?
The beautiful and diverse bit by the insanely talented singer, songwriter and poet Mr. Brassens?

Described as a love song from a man with a near twisted sense of humor, Je me suis fait tout petit tells the story of a good relationship with bad patches along the way.

Those lyrics strike a very chord deep within me reminding me fondly of the days from my youth and naivete. Back when I was a puffy-chested teenager shoo'ing away the likes of my runty kid sister.

I'm particularly fond of this toy version by Maïa Vidal and its haunty, little musicbox effect. It's an elegant piece and she executes it fantastically well.

I lovingly and adoringly dedicate this song to my once pesky leetle sis, Sanefa.

Consider this my formal apology.

I love you

Come on Down to Caine's Arcade - A Miniature Feel Good Film

This here is the story of a young dreamer, just nine years old, by the name of Caine. Using his available resources, he designed and assembled a makeshift cardboard arcade within his father's auto part store.

Enthusiastically opening his shop regularly each weekend, Caine hoped a customer would one day come.

Sadly, there were none.

Not a single one until one afternoon when good samaritan and independent filmaker, Nirvan Mullick ran into the arcade (quite by happenstance) in search of a used door handle for his '96 Corolla.

After purchasing a five hundred turn fun pass for two dollars from the delighted boy, he set forth to reward Caine's tenacity, and to make one child's dream come true.

Please enjoy this short film and the feel good happies that ensue.

Hope is alive and well,
and it's for sale at Caine's Cardboard Arcade.

Makes the air a little sweeter to breathe, doesn't it?
